Speaking in an interview with DS, the show boss confirmed that the first incident will air towards the end of the year, with the other following in early 2011.
Asked whether any "big stunts" are on the cards, Blyth replied: "Yes, we have a couple of rather spectacular things for the winter - a couple of juicy scenarios that we're planning for this year and 2011.
"But I am a great believer that these things shouldn't be spectacular for spectacular's sake. There has to be a real story going in to them - and an even bigger one coming out."
Blyth also confirmed that he is interested in seeing how such storylines "bring the community together" and lead to interactions between unlikely characters.
On the possibility of Emmerdale being filmed in HD in the future, Blyth commented: "It's the way that all of television is going and we're no different. Plans are under way and we should be able to tell you more in the near future."
