In next week's episodes, the actor's twisted alter ego must give evidence at Ryan Lamb's murder trial in the final stage of a malicious plot to frame his half-brother.
As Nathan is called to give his testimony, he knows that he must continue to lie in order to protect his mum Natasha (Amanda Donohoe), who was the real culprit behind Mark Wylde's death.
Speaking to the official Emmerdale website, Ogbourne explained: "Nathan stands there and he's shaking like a leaf. He's absolutely terrified at what he's just about to do. He says he'll tell the truth, but as we know, there isn't an ounce of truth in that!"
However, the 27-year-old added that Nathan's manipulative ways serve him well on the day - as he wins over the jury and things look bleak for Ryan.
Ogbourne said: "Nathan's at his best when he's in control - utterly in control. When he's in court, he's got the judge, the jury and every single person eating out of the palm of his hand."
However, Nathan's impressive performance on the stand ultimately leads to a dramatic kidnap plot as someone holds him captive in a desperate attempt to uncover the truth. Details of who is responsible are being kept closely under wraps until transmission.
