'Emmerdale' Ryan verdict draws 7.2m

Emmerdale pulled in almost 7.2m on Tuesday evening for Ryan's court verdict, according to overnight data.

The climax of the trial attracted 7.18m (32.9%) at 7pm, beaten by EastEnders which won 8.93m (38.7%) half an hour later for Carol and Connor's surprise bedroom antics. BBC Three's repeat put in an impressive 1.1m (5.4%) at 10pm.

E4's second Hollyoaks Later held up with a solid 438k (1.8%) in the 9pm hour. Prior to that, the latest instalment of the serial picked up 1.29m (6.2%) at 6.30pm, adding 235k (1%) at 8.30pm.

Elsewhere, Holby City logged 5.88m (24.2%) for 'The Short Straw', while Doctors averaged 1.74m (19.4%) for the second of special three-part story 'Carousel'.

Meanwhile, Neighbours logged 830k (9.1%) at 1.45pm, and 1.19m (7.6%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away picked up 400k (4.8%) at 2.15pm, and 915k (4.8%) at 6pm, then Fiver's first look had 481k (2.3%).
