The actress was recently cast in the role of Declan Macey's ex-wife Ella, who will help the businessman to secure the Wyldes' share of Home Farm in scenes to air this week.
Speaking to the Sunday Mercury, Wicks explained that Ella is different to characters she has played in the past, describing her as "passionate, no-nonsense, funny and likeable".
She continued: "It makes a nice change for me as I usually get ice maidens."
As Ella becomes a permanent fixture on the ITV1 show, she will begin trying to win back Declan. Fans will also see the ex-couple's daughter Mia (Sapphire Elia) introduced to the programme.
Discussing the character of Mia, Wicks joked: "She's about 20, far too old to be my daughter! It's outrageous, she should be about 10. But I am so chuffed to have a job in these difficult times, I don't care. I'll do anything!"
The former Doctors star recently said that she wants Ella to do "a lot of flirting" on Emmerdale.
