Next week's episodes see Chas pop the question to partner Carl King (Tom Lister) in a packed Woolpack as part of her long-term plan to humiliate him for cheating on her with Eve Jenson (Suzanne Shaw).
As Carl accepts the proposal in front of Eve and the rest of the pub's punters, it looks like Chas's secret plot is working perfectly.
However, speaking about how Chas feels about the situation, Pargeter commented: "Chas isn't sure he's going to accept, but he does and seeing Eve's face gives her grim satisfaction.
"I think in a way Chas can't help wishing it was all for real. I mean, there she is surrounded by her friends, family and neighbours who are just delighted for her."
Asked whether Chas's main aim is to humiliate Carl or secure some of his cash, the actress replied: "Carl and Eve getting their comeuppance is of tantamount importance to Chas. She does want some security - although it's really Charity who's got the big pound signs in her eyes."
Chas's revenge storyline is expected to reach a climax at Christmas.
