Emmerdale star Lyndon Ogbourne has predicted that viewers may sympathise with his twisted character Nathan Wylde when he gets his comeuppance later this month.

In next week's episodes, Nathan makes the mistake of telling his half-brother Ryan Lamb (James Sutton) how much he enjoyed setting him up for Mark's murder - unaware that his confession is being secretly recorded.

With firm proof that the schemer was involved in covering up the truth, Ryan goes on to blackmail him - vowing that he will give the recording to the police unless Nathan puts his fortune in a trust fund for the Wyldes' youngest member Will (Oscar Lloyd). The mechanic also makes sure that both Will and Maisie (Alice Coulthard) are made aware of Nathan's true colours.

Speaking of his alter ego's final week on screen, Ogbourne commented: "When Nathan actually leaves, he literally has nothing - no money, no car, no family who love or respect him - he is completely and utterly destitute.

"I think people might start to feel a bit sorry for Nathan when he finds out that Maisie and Will have totally turned their backs on him - he's just devastated and utterly defeated."

Describing Nathan's final scene, the actor added: "He gives everything over, and as he walks away, Declan trips him up and chucks him to the floor, and gets him to hand over the keys and basically frogmarches him out of the house! He gets kicked to the floor and scrambles up and just walks away with absolutely nothing."

Ogbourne announced his decision to leave Emmerdale in August.
