Lucy Pargeter: 'Chas could marry Carl'

Lucy Pargeter has revealed that there is a chance her Emmerdale character's sham wedding could turn into the real thing.

In an ongoing revenge storyline which reaches its climax next week, the actress's scheming alter ego Chas Dingle has proposed to partner Carl King (Tom Lister) and lied that she is expecting his baby.

After discovering Carl's affair with village temptress Eve Jenson (Suzanne Shaw), Chas was determined to humiliate him at the altar and pocket some of his fortune. However, in recent days, she has started to have second thoughts.

Speaking to Soaplife, Pargeter explained: "Even Chas doesn't know which way she's going to go. Forgive Carl and marry him, or go through with her revenge and humiliate him for cheating on her with Eve?

"She's still in love with him and she genuinely thinks he loves her. She just wishes it was all true - the baby, the marriage, everything."

The actress continued: "She's seriously thinking about going through with the wedding, then trying to explain to Carl afterwards why there is no baby, no cars, no honeymoon and so on."

Chas's wedding day arrives in Emmerdale's Christmas Day episode.
