Lister: 'Men congratulate me on affair'

Emmerdale's Tom Lister has admitted that male viewers have congratulated him on his character's affair with Eve Jenson.

The pair embarked on an affair earlier this year in the ITV soap, but Carl ended things following Chas's proposal. However, Carl remains unaware that Chas knows about the affair as the plot heads towards its Christmas Day climax.

"He's got a wandering eye and I think there are lots of fellas like that," he told The Sun. "Women come up to me in the street and say they want Chas to smack me in the face but men say, 'Well done you - two women on the go!'."

Lister, who was has two sons with his wife Jenny, insisted that he is nothing like his character.

"I'm a one-woman man and when I got married that was it," he said. "The whole idea is to commit yourself to somebody for life."

Emmerdale's festive episode airs on Christmas Day at 6pm.
