Marc Silcock has admitted that he is "open" to continuing his role in Emmerdale.

The actor - Jackson Walsh in the ITV soap - is currently contracted until the Spring, but told Digital Spy that it is up to the show's team whether he remains on-screen.

"All I know at the minute is that I'm here until Spring. So at the moment, that's the way it stands," he said. "Whether the producers see fit to change that is completely up to them and I'm open to suggestions, but at the minute my contract finishes in Spring this year."

Silcock also spoke of his delight at being nominated in the 'Best Newcomer' category at this week's National Television Awards.

"For me it was just an acknowledgement that people are recognising the work that I've been doing and the effort that I'm putting in with the storyline that I've got and the situation my character is in," he said. "I can't really come to work without doing my homework and I can't not give it 100%, because I'm representing a community. It's just fantastic to be recognised for the work that I've done."
