Speaking on ITV's This Morning, the actress - Katie Sugden in the Yorkshire soap - teased that viewers will discover more about her "bad boy" on-screen lover DC Nick Henshall's (Michael McKell) past "very soon".
Katie and the villagers currently remain in the dark about Henshall's involvement in last month's tragic fire.
"I've just finished filming probably the most intense thing I've ever done really," she said. "It was me and Michael. [We] had nearly 30 two-handers in one set basically."
She added: "It was really hard to make it interesting and different."
Probed by presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby as to whether the plot would involve Henshall's deceased wife, Winward responded: "Possibly! I can't tell you, but it's going to be really good - I hope."
