Emmerdale's new recruit Dominic Power has claimed that his alter ego Cameron Murray is a good match for established character Debbie Dingle.

Cameron had a relationship with Debbie (Charley Webb) when she was in Jersey last year and arrives in the village looking for a reunion with the blonde in next week's episodes.

However, when Cameron reports that he has left his wife and children for Debbie, she initially rejects him - not wanting to be branded a home-wrecker. Afterwards, fans will be left to wonder how long she can resist temptation as Cameron sticks around in Emmerdale.

Speaking to TV Choice, Power explained: "She's shocked when he turns up because she was just starting to piece her life back together. Debbie doesn't let Cameron into her world straight away.

"She's not sure how serious he is, but I think they're well-suited - as they share a sense of humour and both had children young."

Power previously played the role of Leon Taylor on The Bill, which was axed by ITV last year.

Reflecting on the police drama's fate, he added: "I'd had such fun and learned so much that I felt my training had been cut short. I jumped at the chance to get back to regular work."

Cameron makes his arrival in the village on Thursday, March 3.
