Adele Silva: 'I make excuses for Kelly'

Adele Silva has admitted that she often tries to defend her scheming Emmerdale character Kelly Windsor.

Kelly has turned life in the village upside down in recent weeks by trying to steal back her ex-fiancé Jimmy King from his wife Nicola, exploiting her former partner's amnesia as the perfect way to manipulate him.

However, speaking on Lorraine this morning, Silva confessed that she thinks there is more to Kelly than just her villainous side.

She explained: "I kind of make excuses for her, because she hasn't had a good childhood. Both her parents died, her stepmum died recently. I think she's a great mum - I think she'd do anything for her son. I think that's the only good thing she possibly has going for her!"

Asked whether Kelly will get her comeuppance, Silva replied: "Oh, I think the nation will go mad if she doesn't!"

The actress also discussed her future plans, confirming that she will start filming a new movie next month.

She said: "I've got a film that comes out late summer called How To Stop Being A Loser. It's a very, very funny British comedy with Richard E. Grant, Jill Halfpenny, Simon Phillips - lots and lots of good people in it, so that's great.

"I also start shooting a new film at the end of May, called Strippers vs. Werewolves - a black comedy Shaun of the Dead type thing."
