Adam Thomas: 'Adam is flattered by Ella'

Adam Thomas has confirmed that his Emmerdale character Adam Barton is "quite flattered" when he receives romantic attention from Ella Hart in his latest storyline.

Ella's new toyboy plot began last night when she made her first attempt to get close to Adam. Things go much further in the coming weeks when the pair embark on a full-blown affair.

In an interview with Take It Easy, Thomas admitted that his alter ego is thrilled to have secured the attentions of an older woman - despite working for Ella's partner Declan and being in a relationship with her daughter Mia.

Thomas explained: "Well, it's every boy's dream to be chased by an older woman. Adam's been going out with her daughter Mia for a while and he sees Ella being neglected by her husband. He feels sorry for her."

Asked whether Adam will succumb to Ella's advances, he replied: "Yes he does, and he's quite flattered. He just reacts how the majority of boys his age would. Even though he's got Mia to think about, it's offered to him on a plate and he doesn't really know how he should handle it."

The actor added that Adam is failing to consider how Declan and Mia would react if the truth ever came to light.

"We don't know what the outcome is yet, although I'm sure nothing good is going to come from it," Thomas said. "If Declan finds out, then Adam will be in all sorts of trouble. But I just don't believe he's thinking about it at the moment. He's just a young kid playing the field."
