James Sutton: 'I want to settle down'

Emmerdale star James Sutton has revealed that he would like to start a family now that he has left the soap.

The actor, whose character Ryan Lamb departed the village this week, admitted that he is on the lookout for a girlfriend.

"I really do want to settle down. I'm quite looking forward to the prospect - I just need to find a girlfriend - that would be awesome," he told Holy Soap. "I definitely want a family and a wife. I'm 28 so I'm getting on - but I know that's not old really, is it?"

He added: "I'm looking forward to getting some time back just for me. I need to decorate my kitchen and I've been putting it off for ages - it's a state.

"I spent five or six days a week filming but it was the hours as well. It's the nature of a soap - we have to transmit over two-and-a-half hours a week, which is more than a film. That puts it into perspective how much we have to shoot."

Sutton recently said that he is quitting the show to "get cracking" with new projects.
