Emmerdale star Zoe Henry has revealed that the relationship between her character Rhona Goskirk and ex-partner Marlon Dingle reaches a turning point as their baby arrives next week.

Rhona goes into labour suddenly on Monday and is rushed to hospital with Marlon by her side, while her current boyfriend Paddy Kirk is left disappointed as he misses the birth.

Speaking to Emmerdale's official website, Henry confirmed that Rhona and Marlon share a renewed bond at the hospital as they finally put recent bitterness behind them for the baby's sake.

"The labour happens really quickly and the baby's born within half an hour of getting there," the actress explained. "Marlon's there and of course that's given them an intimacy in their relationship - they've shared something together and it brings them closer together.

"I think she's fallen in love with Marlon again in a different way - in a very platonic way. But he's just been brilliant. They've chosen the name together and it's taken them to another level."

She continued: "He's suddenly, overnight, the most amazing dad. He's just a natural - it's kind of what he was born to do."

Meanwhile, as Rhona and Marlon adjust to life as new parents, Paddy finds himself feeling left out and starts to keep his distance.

Henry added: "I think it's inevitable that somebody is going to feel pushed out. Yes, it could work in the long run but it takes a lot of effort and the problem is that Paddy's not putting the effort in and so excluding himself."
