'Emmerdale' Declan to get revenge against Bartons, says Jason Merrells

Jason Merrells has revealed that his character Declan Macey will set out to get revenge over the Barton family in Emmerdale.

The actor revealed that Declan will "go for the whole family" after discovering Adam's (Adam Thomas) affair with Mia's mother Ella.

"He's going to follow through on his threat, and his threat was he's going to go for the whole family," Merrell said.

Merrells added that he doesn't feel Declan is being too harsh on the Barton family, as "he warned [Adam] specifically". He revealed that Declan will next go after the family's money.

"He begins to demand prompt payment for the mortgage. He's helped them with the mortgage and he's going to withdraw all of his money eventually," Merrells added.

The actor also explained that he thinks Declan is a decent man deep down, saying: "I would say, giving Declan the benefit of the doubt, he's very generous, because being cold-hearted is brought about by events.

"And it is more a cold rage that is fuelled by terrible things that have happened to him."

Jason Merrells recently spoke to Digital Spy about Declan's upcoming explosive storylines in the soap.
