Another Dingle descends on the Dales

Another member of the Dingle family will soon be making their mark in Emmerdale.

Eli will be played by actor Joseph Gilgun, age 21, who is best known for playing Jamie Armstrong in Coronation Street from 1994–1997. Joseph has also appeared in Shameless on Channel 4.

Marlon (Mark Charnock) gets a shock when his brother Eli Dingle turns up in the village on Thursday 13 July. He is less than pleased to see his brother, who is an ex-convict now working as a builder.

Of his new role, Joseph said: “Before this I was just plastering so I feel very lucky and completely over the moon to be starting on Emmerdale!”

Series Producer Kath Beedles added: “Eli’s arrival will come as a shock to the rest of the Dingles, who have no intention of making him feel welcome, following his dubious past and a spell in prison.”

The character will initially appear for a month with the potential to return in the future.
