Emmerdale star Dominic Power has defended his character Cameron Murray's attempts to bring down the Kings, insisting that his alter ego is a "nice guy" at heart.

Cameron has been trying to lure clients away from Carl's haulage business in this week's episodes after deciding to go solo. The situation takes a new twist in the coming days when Cameron, Cain and Charity team up to steal vans from Emmerdale Haulage.

Power has now told ITV.com that Cameron's main motivation is revenge after Carl (Tom Lister) previously tried to break up his relationship with Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb).

"Cameron is loving every minute of making Carl squirm," the actor explained. "It comes back to the point where he tried to ruin things between Cameron and Debbie, and no-one messes with Cameron's Debbie.

"Cameron is a nice guy, and I won't have anyone say any different! But he will not be taken for a fool."

Power also revealed that he has enjoyed the chance to show Cameron on the same side as Cain (Jeff Hordley) against the Kings.

"I am not a Dingle, but I am hugely proud to be part of the Dingle clan and this forthcoming escapade has made me feel more welcome in the Dingle household," he said.

Discussing his character's future, Power continued: "Cameron's been hiding stuff so far, and it's about not letting it release too quickly out into the open. So if anything, he's just got to keep checking himself. Watch this space!"

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV1.
