Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has warned that there are dark times ahead as his character Cain Dingle's jealousy escalates in the coming weeks.

Cain was furious in last night's double bill as his ex-partner Charity Tate (Emma Atkins) poured cold water on his hopes for a reunion after discovering his treatment of troubled teen Amy Wyatt (Chelsea Halfpenny).

Meanwhile, Charity is about to get her existing relationship with Jai Sharma back on track - leaving Cain to plot against them once again.

Hordley told All About Soap: "Viewers are about to see a much darker side to Cain. When it's anything to do with Charity, the red mist just descends over him. He still madly loves Charity, and from this point on things are going to get very nasty between them."

Another plot development in future episodes will see Cain step up his flirtatious advances towards Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb).

"Cain enjoys causing friction between her and John - he just doesn't care about offending anyone," Hordley explained. "Cain keeps toying with Moira and he knows that she secretly wants him.

"Cain's in a terrible way about Charity and sees Moira as purely a bit of fun. He's vicious, just like a cat playing with a mouse. Cain hasn't given up on Charity yet, though. He's going to do anything he can to stop her marrying Jai - and I mean anything."

Chris Bisson, who plays Jai, recently told Digital Spy that there are "twists" ahead as the storyline with Cain continues.
