'Emmerdale': John, Amy are top suspects in Cain mystery
Published Monday, Nov 28 2011, 15:55 GMT | By Daniel Kilkelly | 11 comments
Emmerdale fans have picked out John Barton and Amy Wyatt as the most likely suspects in the soap's upcoming Cain Dingle attack storyline.
The pair, played by James Thornton and Chelsea Halfpenny respectively, are currently neck-and-neck in a Digital Spy poll which invites readers to crack the case.
Cain (Jeff Hordley) will finally get his comeuppance next week when one of his many enemies decides to take the ultimate revenge, carrying out a brutal attack and leaving him for dead.

John is currently the front-runner in our poll with 23.0% of the vote, while Amy follows closely behind with 22.5%.
Speculation that John will be the attacker intensified today when it emerged that James Thornton will be leaving Emmerdale next year.
Meanwhile, Chelsea Halfpenny recently told Digital Spy that Amy should not be ruled out after the way Cain has behaved since getting her pregnant.
"I think she could be [the attacker], because she's had such an unstable life and Cain has hurt her a lot - he's totally messed up her life," Halfpenny explained. "He hasn't stood up to the plate and he hasn't looked after his child like he should.
"He should be behaving like an adult, because it's taken two of them to make this baby. Cain has threatened her and called her all the names under the sun, so I think there's a lot of motive for Amy to do this."

Moira Barton is currently the third favourite in our poll with 17.1%, followed by Zak Dingle (15.9%), Jai Sharma (10.8%) and Charity Tate (10.7%).
Emmerdale airs Cain's attack next week, but show bosses have confirmed that the culprit will not be revealed until the New Year.
Emmerdale airs all this week at 7pm on ITV1.
