'Emmerdale's Charlotte Bellamy: 'I wouldn't forgive Laurel'

Emmerdale star Charlotte Bellamy has admitted that she wouldn't forgive someone who'd had an emotional affair.

The actress plays Laurel Thomas, who has fallen for Marlon Dingle in recent months but is convinced she hasn't cheated since they never slept together.

Husband Ashley, played by John Middleton, was devastated when he discovered the situation, but insisted they go ahead with renewing their wedding vows at Christmas.

Bellamy told The People that her boyfriend of 20 years would describe falling in love with someone else as "the worst thing I could do".

"It would be the most treacherous, disloyal and heartbreaking thing in the world," she said. "A one-night stand could be put down to being very drunk and would be easier to cope with. Falling in love is completely different.

"I'd feel the same way too. For any couple it would be extremely damaging. How do you get back on track after something like that? Can you rebuild a relationship if one of you is in love with someone else?"

Bellamy added that most of her friends feel the same way.
