'Emmerdale' John, Moira plot takes 7.7m

Emmerdale continued to perform well on Wednesday evening with the build-up to the soap's big Barton stunt, overnight figures show.

Emmerdale pulled in 7.69m (35.5%) at 7pm as John and Moira announced that their divorce was on hold, prompting the kids to book a night in a hotel for the pair. A further 189k (0.8%) saw the episode on ITV1+1.

Hollyoaks, meanwhile, attracted 1.1m (5.3%) on Channel 4 at 6.30pm and 110k (0.5%) on +1 as Nancy and Darren tied the knot. The aftermath of the pair's nuptials brought 498k (2.3%) to E4's first look at 7pm and 140k (0.9%) to E4+1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours appealed to 751k (8.7%) at 1.45pm and 1.06m (6.2%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away grabbed 851k (4.4%) at 6pm and 496k (2.4%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Lovesick' - was seen by 1.69m (19.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
