Various reports today (October 15) have quoted Miles as saying: "I'm unenthusiastic about it. We shouldn't be doing it. I'm not impressed. We seem to be doing it for the sake of it, because it's become a soap tradition on an anniversary. For the crew, it's a really huge challenge."

However, writing on Twitter this afternoon, Miles insisted that his words had been taken out of context.

Asked by a fan whether today's reports are true, he replied: "No! I said it wouldn't be worth repeating what others have done - we're doing something far more challenging."

Emmerdale's live episode will be shot entirely on-location at the programme's village base.

Show bosses have also vowed to concentrate on character drama rather than a disaster or huge stunts.

Emmerdale Live airs on Wednesday (October 17) from 7pm on ITV1.
