New cop for 'Emmerdale'
Soap newcomer Samuel Anderson has joined the cast of Emmerdale as uniform policeman Ross Kirk.

Ross arrives in the Dales after being transferred to Hotton police station and is more than happy to see his cousin, Paddy (Dominic Brunt), when he turns up in the village.

His charm and self-assurance immediately winds up fellow officer Donna Windsor-Dingle (Verity Rushworth) but with her marriage on the rocks, loathing could turn to lust, almost certainly leaving Donna with a guilty conscience where Marlon (Mark Charnock) is concerned.

Speaking of his new role, the 25-year-old actor said: "My mum's a big soap fan and, growing up, Emmerdale was always on in our house.

"It's great to be joining such a successful show and I’m looking forward to Ross stirring things up for the locals."

Series producer Kathleen Beedles added: "Samuel is a fantastic addition to the cast. There's a great chemistry between Ross and Donna and viewers can expect fireworks in the near future."

Samuel has previously appeared in adaptations of Alan Bennet's 'History Boys' as well as BBC daytime medical drama Doctors.

His first Emmerdale appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, October 10.
