Emmerdale star Luke Tittensor has admitted that he was grateful to have a stunt double for the show's dramatic 35th anniversary episode.
The actor's character Daz Hopwood is caught up in a huge explosion at the Sugdens' home, in scenes to be broadcast next week.
Luke was desperate to film his own stunts for the episode, but the producers decided to play it safe - and, on the day of shooting, the 17-year-old quickly realised why.
"I remember begging to do my own stunts and they said no, because it was too dangerous," Tittensor told the Daily Star. "Then, on the day, I realised what my stunt double had to do and I thought: 'I'm really glad that's not me!'
"He's running towards a burning building, knowing that at some point it's going to blow up. I thought: 'He must be bricking it!' As he is running towards the house, the windows blow out and he goes flying across the street. He must have gone a good six feet.
"You see him flying, it was amazing. But there was this huge chunk of wood that missed his head by an inch, it was very close. I stood at the top of the street and felt some glass hit me. I was like: 'If I can feel that from over here, he must have got the full force!' It's dead mad."
