Today's 'Emmerdale' report
Published Wednesday, Oct 15 2008, 12:13 BST | By Kris Green | 3 comments
The report in today's Mirror has definitely caused a stir among the Emmerdale cast. I hear that they're becoming increasingly frustrated by the ongoing reports which suggest that morale is at an all-time low.
To be honest, I'm not surprised they're getting fed up - the reports are beginning to bore me, too.
An Emmerdale spokeswoman confirmed to me this morning: "The rumours about low morale among the cast are completely untrue. There is a great atmosphere at the moment, particularly after the show scooped two TV Quick Awards recently and ratings are high. Anita [Turner] has the full backing of the cast."
Meanwhile, it's also been suggested that filming hours have increased in order to meet the six thirty-minute episodes being produced a week. Yes, it's a tall order for any show - and in some people's opinions, it's too much - but the filming times haven't increased.
The spokeswoman added: "Filming hours have not been increased. It is not unusual for us to film on Saturdays, and night shoots are the norm when working on a soap."
And finally, the rumour that a number of cast members are taking/have been taking time off due to illness isn't exactly true. Roxanne Pallett (Jo Sugden) has been the only person off ill in the past few weeks. Even her absence was only a couple of days.
There. Isn't it good when everything's cleared up?
