'Emmerdale': Times Are A Changin'

Published Thursday, May 21 2009, 14:44 BST | By Kris Green | 8 comments
Yesterday, I popped up to Leeds for the day to see the guys and gals at Emmerdale and I have to say that when I walked out of the building, I had a new-found confidence in the show.

My time at the studios also coincided with my interview with new series producer Gavin Blyth (pictured) for DS's Producer Season 2009. The interview will be available to read from Friday, June 12 in the same week as my James Sutton interview to tie in with his first appearance as newbie Ryan Lamb.

I'll not go into the details as to what Gavin said or revealed at this stage, save to say that Emmerdale's one to watch over between now and the end of the year.

With the feel-good vibe emanating from Gavin's office, there's no wonder the cast and crew are excited about the show's reinvention - times are a definitely changin' at Emmerdale.

Check back in a few weeks' time to read the full interview. And check back on DS in the early hours of tomorrow morning for a much-anticipated Emmerdale announcement...

This whole 'times are changing stuff' is boring - no point to it. Emmmerdale is just reallllly boring everyone knows that.

I'm looking forward to the changin' times at Emmerdale, it all sounds very exciting. There's so much going on cast-wise at the moment, I can barely keep up! I'm looking forward to the two interviews, especially James's. I'm also really looking forward to 15 June. Yorkshire's going to get much hotter! ;)

I hope for a storyline in Emmerdale which will involve the Wylde family leaving the village. They really annoy me.

Are they going to update the theme tune - hope so!?

Emmerdale is so hot and cold at the moment, some great stuff mixed in with really broing material. Same with characters. I really look forward to when every episode is stellar. Looking forward to BOTH interviews - thank you Kris!

Obviously very excited at the interview with James Sutton. Any chance of an exclusive pic soon? I'm new to ED (for a certain new cast member ;-) ) but I think the new direction sounds very exciting and look forward to GB's interview. Sounds like ED is really getting back on track and exciting times ahead. You rock, Kris!

Admittedly I was a little dubious when I heard James was joining ED as I'm not familiar with it at all and had quite stereotypical views, though now I'm really looking forward to this 'regeneration' and cannot wait for James' debut!

I hope they are going to change the title sequence as part of this rejuvenation. It's looking a bit tired now!
