Poll: Are you excited about Charity's return?
Published Saturday, Sep 12 2009, 00:02 BST | By Kris Green | 10 comments
Last week, I asked who you thought would be bumped off in this year's edition of Hollyoaks Later between Zoe Carpenter and Sarah Barnes.
You voted in your thousands and one character remained the outright favourite throughout the polling period, despite the knowledge that both actresses - Zoë Lister and Loui Batley, respectively - are leaving the show.
The majority (50.3%) of the vote believed that Sarah will plummet to her death at the hands of her lesbian lover Lydia Hart (Lydia Kelly) when a parachute she sabotages becomes mixed up and handed to one of the girls.
Zoe and the 'both' option, meanwhile, were neck and neck in the voting with 25.4% and 24.3% of the total, respectively.
Those wishing Lydia (the character) would die, might I suggest you employ Francis Galton's 'Wisdom of Crowds' thinking as highlighted by Derren Brown during last night's amazing programme. You never know your luck.
Moving swiftly onto this week's Emmerdale-themed poll, which asks 'Are you excited about Charity's return?'

With October 1 fast approaching, that means one thing. OK, two. First, there are 104 days remaining until Christmas and second - the bitch is back.
Yep, Charity Dingle - played by the highly talented Emma Atkins - returns to our screens in dramatic style for at least a six-month stint in what is being hailed as Emmerdale's 'turning point' and the start of a new beginning for the once-flagging show.
A few weeks ago, ITV released the first picture of Charity running through the woods in a wedding dress (above), as well as a promotional image of the wedding invite. The groom's name, however, was obscured by a white rose, resulting in mass 'speculation' online as to his identity. Some worked out his identity extremely quickly, while others still aren't too sure. Official confirmation will be released on or around Tuesday, September 22.
But will Charity's return pay off?
Personally, I believe this could haul the show back to its best. There's always a danger with soap returnees that they'll take a character in the wrong direction from the off or push them into a story that ruins their soap icon status. However, if there's an interesting story to tell, there's no reason why it can't or won't work. In the same vain as EastEnders' Sam Mitchell (Danniella Westbrook), Charity Dingle has unfinished business. They've not drafted Emma (and Charity) back for the hell of it. It's justified.
It's a canny move by series producer Gavin Blyth. Of all the characters in Emmerdale's history books I'd have approached, she'd have definitely been in the top two - the other being Claire King who played Kim Tate. Apparently, she still owns Home Farm, you know...
So what do you think to Emmerdale's decision to #BringBackCharity? Are you excited about her return? Cast your vote by using the voting panel below or simply use the form below to leave your comments.
