The 26-year-old, who quit her role as superbitch Louise Summers in October, will bow out of the Channel 4 soap on Boxing Day when her character meets her maker on the day of her wedding to lover Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas).
Louise's mum Yvonne, played by Lysette Anthony, makes a brief appearance during the wedding episodes, which were shot on location at Knowsley Hall, near Preston in Merseyside.
Speaking of her character's screen mother, McKee told DS: "[Lysette]'s amazing. [She] is perfect for the role. It was just fab to work with her. It's a shame we haven't met her before now. When they bought Lysette in, they realised it'd have been lovely to have had her in a lot longer. Yvonne's such a good character - her and Louise are like two peas in a pod."
She added: "You see a softer, vulnerable side to Louise when she's around her mum. She's like a shy child due to the way her mum has treated her. You see why Louise is as cold as she is."
