The 21-year-old actor recently filmed his final scenes as Justin Burton on the Channel 4 soap and is now making plans for his future in the industry.
Speaking to We Love Telly! magazine, he confirmed: "I'd love to go into films, but I'm not going to say the cliché of cracking America. I just want to see what else I can do - it could be Shakespeare."
Asked to name his immediate plans, the star replied: "A holiday! When you're in a soap it's your life. I'm going to go on a boys' holiday - that's my main ambition at the moment."
Fountain also insisted that producers would have struggled to continue creating storylines for his alter-ego if he had renewed his contract.
"Justin has done everything he can possibly do," he explained. "He's been to boot camp, he's been accused of murder, been on the run from the police, been in love and had his heart broken. I felt it was the right time to go."
The actor's final appearance as Justin will air on the programme next week.
