'Oaks' Bronagh: 'Cheryl like Tasmanian devil'
Hollyoaks newcomer Bronagh Waugh has equated her character to a Tasmanian devil about to wreak havoc on the Chester village.

Waugh, who plays Malachy Fisher's (Glen Wallace) larger-than-life ex-girlfriend Cheryl, gatecrashed Warren Fox's (Jamie Lomas) funeral at the end of last week, much to the annoyance of the locals.

Of her character, she told DS at the Inside Soap Awards launch: "She's like the Tasmanian devil, just a whirlwind hurricane leaving carnage in her wake and then totters off as if that's completely normal and goes and buys a loaf of bread in Drive 'N' Buy!"

She added: "Currently [Cheryl's] going through more men than jobs at the moment. It's about an eight to four ratio! She has her eyes firmly set on Calvin. She meets him on her second day in the village... he's not interested at all, but we'll see over time. She's very persistent. She never gives up. God loves a trier."
