'Hollyoaks' confirms Ash Roy departure

Junade Khan

Hollyoaks producers have confirmed Ash Roy's imminent departure from the teen soap.

As reported by DS last month, Ash - played by 27-year-old Junade Khan - bows out of the Channel 4 show next month when his also-departing screen parents Bel (Nila Aalia) and Gov (Anthony Bunsee) disown him for good.

In a shock turn of events, Ash punches his brother at the scene of one of their illegal fights and causes his aneurism to rupture, sending him into a coma.

The Roy family quickly learns that Ash knew of Ravi's condition but allowed him to fight regardless and it is not long before they all turn against him. Feeling dejected, Ash reveals a "shocking family secret" to one of his sisters with disastrous consequences.

Ashamed by their son's actions, Bel and Gov force Ash out of their lives - and the village - for good.

Speaking of his decision to leave, Khan said: "I've loved every minute and learned so much in ten months at Hollyoaks. I'm so grateful for the opportunity and I wish everyone all the best in the future."

Series producer Lucy Allan added: "Junade has been a valued member of the cast over the last year. We've enjoyed watching Ash cause trouble in the village and look forward to the emotionally charged scenes that will see him leave. We wish Junade all the very best."

Khan's final scenes air on Friday, September 11.
