The 30-year-old actress told PA that she was thrilled when she heard that her scheming alter-ego Cindy Cunningham would have emotional moments in the Hollyoaks Later spinoff.
"It's really fun to play the comedy and the manipulative bitch, but for me personally I feel more at home doing the drama - so it was really nice to get scripts again that show that," Waring explained.
She added: "As much as I love doing the comedy, this is where I feel at home so I'm hoping there is more to come."
Hollyoaks Later will see the climax of golddigger Cindy's plot to cheat Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) out of his fortune.
The programme's new run launches with the first of five one-hour episodes on September 28.
