Merna: 'Bonnie Tyler cameo was amazing'
Hollyoaks actress Gemma Merna has revealed that her screen duet with Bonnie Tyler is the highlight of her time with the soap so far.

The Welsh songstress performs her classic hit 'Holding Out For A Hero' with Merna's character Carmel McQueen during a dream sequence in tonight's episode of spinoff Hollyoaks Later. Her surprise appearance comes after Carmel finds herself behind bars during a trip to London.

Discussing Tyler's cameo, Merna told DS: "It was just amazing. It was just a bit surreal. Obviously everyone was just like, 'Oh my God, Bonnie Tyler's here!' And we were behaving ourselves while she was there!"

She continued: "It was just amazing. It was the best day that I've had at Hollyoaks. Everyone just pulled together, all the girls were dancing behind in the cells as well, like Chicago, so it was just fantastic."

Asked if the song should be released as a single, Merna replied: "Yes! Oh yes! And the video that we've done with all the dancers in. Yeah, I think we should release it."

Tyler recently praised Merna in an interview with DS, describing her as "lovely" and "beautiful".

Hollyoaks Later concludes at 9pm tonight on E4.
