Jones - who played drug dealer Jamie in E4's late-night spinoff series - recently penned a contract with the teen soap to appear for a short stint in the New Year to tie in with Emma Rigby's departure from the show as Hannah Ashworth.
During Later, Hannah and Jamie fell in love at first sight, but Hannah's dreams of a fairytale ending for them were shattered when she discovered that he peddled drugs to raise money.
Jamie, however, protested that the drug money would be used to fund his dream and Hannah reluctantly allowed herself to fall into his drug-fuelled underworld. Their happiness took a turn for the worse, though, when Hannah discovered that Jamie's friend Kev (James Cartwright) had plans to pimp her out like Imogen (Holly Gilbert).
Hannah and Jamie fled the house in an ice cream van and when Hannah was ultimately held ransom at gunpoint for the stolen drugs, Jamie failed to admit that he had them the whole time.
In a final confrontation on the beach, Jamie begged Hannah to give him another chance as he'll change, but she refused to listen to his pleas, insisting: "You care more about the dream than the person standing in front of you."
As Hannah walked away, she scattered his bag of drugs across the sand, prompting Jamie to frantically gather the stash.
In February, however, Jamie turns up in Hollyoaks in the hope of whisking her off for the happy ever after they dreamed about.
A Hollyoaks source told DS: "Hannah's had a terrible time of late and Jamie's sudden arrival in the village next year reopens a wound that's only just started to heal."
This year's five-episode run of Later was headed up by former Hollyoaks producer Bryan Kirkwood.
