Lister: 'Hollyoaks skydiving scared me'

Hollyoaks actress Zoë Lister has admitted that her skydiving training for the soap did not get "any less terrifying".

Earlier this year, the 27-year-old took part in a number of plane jumps to prepare for a dramatic storyline on spinoff Hollyoaks Later.

The plot saw lesbian student Sarah Barnes (Loui Batley) killed off during a skydive attempt after her parachute was sabotaged by jealous Lydia Hart (Lydia Kelly), who had in fact intended to target Lister's alter ego Zoe Carpenter.

Discussing the preparation, Lister told Heatworld: "I was massively excited until I got into the plane. You have a day of ground training and make sure you know your reserve drills, then basically you just get into a plane and jump out.

"It's great, but it doesn't get any less terrifying. I've done thirteen jumps now, with the last two being live takes for the show."

Producers had kept viewers guessing until the last moment over whether Zoe or Sarah would fall victim to Lydia's sabotage.

Asked if she would have preferred to be killed off in the episode, the departing star replied: "Not particularly - it's been interesting to deal with the aftermath of Sarah's death. You don't have to do much in a death scene, just scream and that's it. But I suppose you get remembered for it!"
