In Pictures: New Year showdown in 'Hollyoaks'

Hollyoaks graduate Zoe Carpenter's (Zoë Lister) year goes from bad to worse on New Year's Eve when a crazed Lydia (Lydia Kelly) stabs her at their friend and lover Sarah's graveside.

After meeting in a church, Zoe manages to elicit a confession from Lydia that she sabotaged Sarah's parachute earlier in the year. With that, Zoe makes a run for it into the graveyard and after a major struggle between the warring pair, Lydia pulls a knife on Zoe, before plunging it into her on the stroke of midnight.

Speaking of the storyline, Lister told Digital Spy: "There's a bit of waiting around for midnight to come and Zoe's sat up against Sarah's grave. Lydia's looming over her with the knife and when the bells start ringing, Lydia lunges at her and plunges the knife in."
