Whittle hopes for "shock" plot conclusion

The actor's alter ego is to be killed by a mystery assailant at the end of the show's upcoming 'flashforward' episode, which centres around Calvin and Carmel's (Gemma Merna) second wedding in May 2010.
Viewers will see the events leading up to Calvin's shock death play out on screen over the next few months. This means that fans will not discover the identity of the killer until next year.
Speaking to DS about how he would like the mystery to be resolved, Whittle explained: "I think it'd be a big shock if it were someone like Warren. Just because I'd get to work with Jamie Lomas again! I love him to bits, he's a wicked guy.
"There are so many different ways they could go with it - it could be a friend, a family member. It could even be Carmel! I had the idea that it could be a mistake and that the bullet was meant for someone else and Calvin gets in the way."
Meanwhile, Whittle also confessed that a string of characters will appear to be angry with Calvin in the 'flashforward' instalment, leaving viewers to guess over whether they have a motive to kill.
He said: "There are so many hooks in this episode people will want to know what's going on straight away. They'll spend the next six months trying to figure out why people were acting the way they were in the flashforward - and, of course, understand who would want to kill Calvin."
Jamie Lomas's character Warren Fox was killed off earlier this year after the actor announced his decision to quit the show.
Hollyoaks' 'flashforward' episode airs tonight at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
