'Hollyoaks' actor explains Malachy's silence
Hollyoaks star Glen Wallace has insisted that he can understand why his character decides not to acknowledge his wife's infidelity.

Last week, the actor's alter ego Malachy Fisher fled from The Loft club after spotting partner Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) becoming intimate with Calvin Valentine, played by Ricky Whittle.

Meanwhile, in the soap's recent 'flashforward' episode, viewers saw that Malachy had still not confronted the love cheats six months into the future.

Speaking to DS about the barman's state of mind, Wallace explained: "My whole argument was, 'Why wouldn't Malachy rip Calvin off Mercedes' back?' Sitting down and thinking about it, though, Malachy knows that his life is much better with Mercedes in it."

Asked if he knew any firm reasons for Malachy's attitude, he replied: "Not in terms of script, no. We're shooting February/March at the minute, so all I've been able to do is try to get my head around and understand the motivation as to why Malachy doesn't say anything for such a long period of time and why he'd stay with her."

Wallace added that Malachy "absolutely" loves Mercedes and would "much rather have her in his life than not".

Metcalfe recently announced that she is backing the affair storyline, despite admitting that she had initially found it "a bit far-fetched".
