Chris Fountain has admitted that he worried about his career after leaving Hollyoaks.

The 22-year-old actor, who departed from his role as Justin Burton last year, insisted that he is surprised to be finding work.

He told The Mirror: "I did worry, but I tried to see it as a step forward. I spent six years on Hollyoaks and did everything with my character Justin. So I felt like it was time to get out and see where my ambitions took me. I still see a lot of the cast."

Speaking about his appearance on BBC One's Five Days, he revealed: "It was nerve-wracking at first, but I was excited, too.

"It was so nice to come out of a soap and get something like Five Days, because it had an amazing cast, including Suranne Jones and David Morrissey. Also, both the directors on the series used to work on Hollyoaks, so I didn't feel like the new boy."
