Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring has backed series producer Paul Marquess's "outrageous" plans for her character.

Marquess recently revealed that he has a shocking storyline in store for Cindy Cunningham, which will see the schemer bow out of the show temporarily later this year.

In real life, Waring is taking time off from the Channel 4 soap as she is expecting her second child.

Speaking on This Morning about her alter ego's exit plot, Waring promised: "It's a fabulous storyline for Cindy, it really is.

"When Paul told me I was kind of shocked. I can't say what it is, but it's funny. Not funny, but shocking funny."

Meanwhile, on what the future may hold for Cindy's marriage to Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), Waring commented: "I think there's going to be a lot of change where Cindy and Tony are concerned, put it that way."
