The actress, who played Louise Summers in the Channel 4 soap, admitted that she was expected to take part in revealing shoots as part of her job on the show, but was often reluctant to do so.
She told the News of the World: "It was something you had to accept was part and parcel of the job. Hollyoaks is a young, sexy show.
"I didn't want to do all of the mags and we didn't get paid for those shoots - Hollyoaks took the fee. But I couldn't say no to everything. I felt lucky to have the job I was doing, so I went along with it.
"And when I did Maxim, I knew that stars like Eva Longoria had also been on the cover, so I was in good company. If it's good enough for Eva... At least when I'm 80, I can look back and appreciate the days before I had cellulite! I've been asked to do similar stuff since, but I don't really have to any more."
Speaking of her new role as Lou in BBC3 show Lip Service, she added: "The script was so good and I wanted to be a part of something a bit different and controversial. And Lou is very different from my Hollyoaks character Louise, who ended up an alcoholic depressive."
