In a special week of episodes airing next month, life in the village will be changed forever when a huge blaze begins at Il Gnosh before spreading to the upstairs flat and neighbouring buildings.
Stenson's terminally-ill character Steph Roach is just one show regular who ends up in danger because of the perilous flames.
Speaking to Soaplife about shooting the shock scenes, the actress explained: "I had a stunt lady, but I managed to squeeze one in myself. There was lots of running through fire and I had to climb up stairs that were falling apart."
Stenson filmed her final Hollyoaks scenes earlier this year, but it is currently unknown whether Steph will die from her illness or bow out as part of the upcoming inferno.
Discussing her decision to depart the show, she said: "I could have carried on out of comfort. The studio's only half an hour away from my lovely little village and all my friends and family are there, but my heart is with musical theatre."
Stenson is currently appearing in a West End production of Legally Blonde: The Musical.
