Last night, viewers saw the actor make his final appearance as sci-fi fanatic Elliot Bevan, who left the village after securing a dream job with NASA.
In an interview with the official Hollyoaks website, Davies was asked whether he felt emotional during his last day on set.
He replied: "Well, I'd known for a while that I was leaving, so I was quite excited in a way, but it was a really odd feeling. I think my character had done everything he was going to do on the show and as an actor it felt like a good time to move on. It's exciting to be back out there and auditioning for things again."
Davies also predicted that the recent new arrivals at Hollyoaks Community College will be worthy successors to his own group of students.
He explained: "I think the new students have a lot to live up to, because our group of students had some great storylines and they were five really different characters - so there was some great casting there.
"Having said that, I think the new guys will do a brilliant job. I worked [with them] a little bit before I left and they were all loads of fun to work with, so I think they'll do a great job at filling those roles!"
Davies's departure from Hollyoaks was announced in July.
