Hollyoaks star Glen Wallace has admitted that he shed tears when he read the script for a forthcoming episode.

The actor's character Malachy Fisher is currently lying in a coma after becoming a victim of the Il Gnosh blaze, which was started deliberately by an unknown culprit.

However, in scenes soon to be broadcast on the Channel 4 soap, Malachy has an out-of-body experience and sees himself lying in his hospital bed.

In an interview with All About Soap, Wallace explained: "He's still in a coma and Mercy is talking to him, but suddenly Mal is in the corner of the room, watching himself lying there.

"He tells Mercedes she needs to be strong because Kris - who's arrived to see Mal - is struggling to cope. I can't reveal whether they get to have the conversation in real life, but it's such a tear-jerking moment. I have to admit I cried when I read the script."

Wallace announced in July that he had decided to leave Hollyoaks and his final appearance in the show will soon be screened.

He added: "I felt very emotional about filming my last scenes, but I feel privileged to be part of the show. I was only meant to be in Hollyoaks for three episodes, and I ended up staying two and a half years! I've made some great mates and had some cracking storylines, but my gut instinct told me it was time to go."
