Whittle: 'I have exciting new projects'

Ricky Whittle has reaffirmed his desire to concentrate on "exciting" new projects ahead of his forthcoming reappearance on Hollyoaks.

Last week, it was revealed that the ghost of Whittle's character Calvin Valentine is to play a part in an upcoming storyline on the Channel 4 soap.

However, all of the bonus scenes which feature Whittle were filmed prior to his departure from the show last year and he will not be returning to Hollyoaks.

Writing on Twitter yesterday, the actor commented: "Yes, Calvin will appear in Hollyoaks again in Feb, was filmed last year whilst I was still under contract. Just a few eps - I'm not goin back (sic)."

He added: "Love the show. Loved the cast and crew more, but I'm workin on new exciting projects, so will keep u posted when I can say. Thanks for support."

Whittle recently revealed that he had turned down the chance to star on EastEnders because he did not want to join another soap.
