Mitchell: 'Bronagh took me under her wing'

Hollyoaks star Peter Mitchell has confessed that Bronagh Waugh, who plays Cheryl Brady in the Channel 4 soap, took him under her wing when he joined the show.

The actor, who plays new headteacher Pete Hamill, also revealed that the pair already had a coincidental connection prior to him joining the cast.

According to PA, he said: "It's funny because Bronagh's aunt is a bouncer in my local nightclub back home.

"Her auntie would say 'Have you seen our Bronagh?' We'd heard of each other before I started. That was good. She took me under her wing. They all have."

He added: "Pete's come in with a bit of a past and there's a big mystery there with him. I think when the audience see him they'll always be looking for more, if you know what I mean."
