'Hollyoaks' beats 'Inbetweeners' as month's most-watched show on 4oD

Hollyoaks was the most-viewed series on Channel 4's Video on Demand in September.

The teen soap attracted 2.3 million views, according to the network's monthly report on its 4oD viewing, followed by 1.6 million views for Season 1 of The Inbetweeners and Hollyoaks Later with 1.4 million.

Comedy was listed as the most popular genre with 8.4 million views during the month, compared to 7.2 million for dramas such as Fresh Meat and Shameless.

The statistics show that Video on Demand viewing of Channel 4 shows increased more than ever, with 33 million long-form VoD views during September compared to 31 million in August.

The VoD view count for 2011 has now hit 308 million, an increase of 19.3% since the previous year. 4oD on the Channel 4 website specifically gained 3.9 million average monthly unique viewers, a rise of 300,000 since August.
