'Hollyoaks' Gest appearance for David?

Grease Is The Word judge David Gest is being lined up for a cameo appearance in Hollyoaks.

The 54-year-old American – ex-husband of Liza Minelli – recently met various cast members including Gemma Merna, Carly Stenson and Ricky Whittle (Carmel McQueen, Steph Dean and Calvin Valentine respectively in the Channel 4 soap) at Manchester MEN's diary party on Friday.

It was there he revealed that he was a big fan of the soap and took a particular liking to Gemma. Later in the evening, the idea of making a special appearance in the programme was discussed.

A Hollyoaks spokeswoman told DS: "David Gest is a big fan of Hollyoaks and spent the evening with some of the cast at a party on Friday.

"He has since spoken to one of our casting directors about the possibility of him appearing as a guest in the show."

She added: "We would love to find the right part for David but nothing has been confirmed at this stage."

Gest made his name in Britain after appearing in I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here last year and has since featured in This Is David Gest, his own fly-on-the-wall series of his life in the UK.
