Guy Burnet: It was difficult to play gay
Published Tuesday, Sep 11 2007, 00:31 BST | By Kris Green

In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, the 24-year-old – who has now left the soap – described how there were times when he didn't feel comfortable filming some scenes for the storyline which saw his character, Craig Dean, become embroiled in a secret relationship with his best friend, John Paul McQueen (James Sutton).
"The truth is that it was difficult to play," he explained. "It was talked about for a long while and I felt uncomfortable with the idea because I didn't think it was justifiable.
"It was sitting with Bryan and the other producers, discussing it and saying 'right, if we're going to do this, it's not a story about a character being gay - it's a story where we have to justify the guy's sexual confusion."
He added: "Realistically, I wasn't comfortable but I did it and I've learned an incredible amount from it."
